About The Position

At NewYork‑Presbyterian (NYP), analytics developers power data‑driven decisions across a leading academic health system. As a Lead Analytics Developer on the Data Shared Services (DSS) team, you will partner with clinical, business, and quality leaders to deliver governed data products and decision support that improve access, quality, equity, and operational performance across our hospitals and affiliated medical schools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Biomedical Informatics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, Data Science, Public Health, Economics, Biostatistics, Health Policy, Statistics, Biometrics) or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of analytics/BI experience in healthcare delivery, payer, or life sciences.
  • Advanced SQL and dimensional modeling (or equivalent).
  • Power BI expertise: DAX, M, semantic models, RLS, performance tuning (or equivalent).
  • Practical data governance & metadata management with Alation (or equivalent); strong documentation habits.
  • Demonstrated PHI/PII handling and HIPAA awareness
  • Epic Module Certification (Cogito) upon hire or within 6 months.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Epic Clarity data models or other clinical/financial systems; familiarity with HL7 FHIR, ICD‑10/CPT/LOINC a plus.
  • Cloud data experience with Azure/AWS or similar (Git/Azure DevOps); hands on with Snowflake.
  • Scripting for analysis/automation (Python or R); statistics/experiment design familiarity.
  • Adoption tactics: workspace governance, certified datasets, usage telemetry in Power BI.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusted, reusable Power BI datasets and dashboards that drive decisions.
  • Model analytics‑ready data in Snowflake (views, performance tuning)
  • Apply data governance and privacy by design: document lineage, ownership, and metric definitions in Alation; enforce access controls and handle PHI/PII in alignment with HIPAA and internal policies.
  • Translate ambiguous stakeholder questions into governed metrics and clear analytical stories; thinking creatively and planning strategically
  • Identify and address data quality issues; feed defects to stewards; raise overall trust in data assets.
  • Collaborate with our engineering and data science teams; improve reliability and dashboard adoption.
  • Lead medium‑to‑large scoped initiatives, mentor analytics developers, and contribute to standards for modeling, visualization, and SDLC; collaborate with other analytics developers to eliminate redundancy.
  • Owns cross‑functional solutions and standards for a domain; influences enterprise governance.
