The Project Leader Engineer III is a pivotal role within Vanderlande Industries, responsible for leading a project team in the organization, optimization, and realization of sold projects into a functional system design. This position requires extensive planning and coordination with various disciplines to ensure that projects are executed on time, within budget, and efficiently. As the spearhead of the engineering team, the Project Leader serves as a communication bridge between all stakeholders, including customers and other departments, while also acting as the technical expert for the engineering team. In this role, the Project Leader Engineer III will execute projects from conception through to customer handover, contributing positively to technical performance, financial results, and overall organizational success. This includes overseeing the system design, which encompasses hardware, system and network design, software development (including PLC and/or PC related systems), electrical installation, integration of components, system commissioning, and testing, ultimately leading to the final handover to the customer. Ensuring system functionality and maintaining technical quality for material handling systems is a critical aspect of this position. The Project Leader will also be responsible for developing engineering project plans and schedules for the project team, consistently monitoring and reporting progress. Coordination and communication with the Project Manager, Site Manager, and subcontractors are essential to ensure planned execution. Additionally, the role involves documenting functional system specifications, interface specifications, and high-level test plans, as well as managing all engineering project-related information and reporting project progress to the Project Manager and Engineering Manager. Budget management and safety are also key responsibilities, as the Project Leader will monitor and control project engineering budgets, execute health and safety analyses, and coordinate safety during the engineering phase. This role requires a proactive and hands-on work ethic, with a self-motivated individual who possesses proven problem-solving abilities, especially in stressful situations. The ability to lead a specialized team responsible for complex projects, motivate and train team members, and balance quality, schedule, costs, scope, and resources is essential for success in this position.
