About The Position

Pratt Miller is a product development company in motorsports, defense, and mobility industries providing clients with product engineering and low-volume production solutions. Our range of research & development, engineering, prototype manufacturing, test & validation, and low-rate production capability help our customers bring their high-quality products to market faster. The Mobility Group Project Lead is responsible for leading technical execution on commercial mobility programs, owning day-to-day engineering delivery from concept through integration, build, and validation. This role serves as the primary technical driver for assigned projects, ensuring quality, schedule adherence, and customer satisfaction through disciplined systems-level thinking and hands-on execution. The Project Lead coordinates cross-functional engineering teams to deliver integrated vehicle and subsystem solutions across mechanical, electrical, propulsion, energy, and control domains. This position requires strong technical fundamentals, practical judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in environments with evolving requirements and competing priorities. The Project Lead is accountable for technical scope execution, risk identification and mitigation, and clear communication of status, tradeoffs, and issues to Program Management and customers. While operating within the broader technical strategy defined by senior leadership, this role exercises independent decision-making within assigned programs and is expected to drive results with ownership and accountability. Success in this role requires a structured systems mindset, a hands-on approach to integration and testing, and a professional, solution-oriented presence that reinforces confidence with both internal teams and commercial customers.

Requirements

  • Solid systems-thinking, multidisciplinary approach to vehicle development.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle architecture and subsystem integration.
  • Experience with one or more vehicle subsystems such as chassis, propulsion, energy systems, electrical, controls, or structures.
  • Ability to operate effectively in environments with evolving requirements and incomplete information.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Clear, concise communication of technical information to engineers and program leadership.
  • Hands-on mindset with willingness to engage directly in build, integration, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Positive, solution-oriented approach to problem solving.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • Greater than 5 years of relevant engineering experience in automotive, mobility, off-highway, vocational, specialty vehicle, mobile robotic, or adjacent industries.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to full vehicle or major subsystem development efforts.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to vehicle electrification and energy systems is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with vehicle automation, robotics, or advanced control systems is a plus.
  • Experience with prototype development, integration, or low-volume manufacturing is a plus.
  • Exposure to multiple markets or vehicle platforms is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Execute assigned mobility programs by leading technical staff and owning defined technical deliverables.
  • Support system-level architecture and integration under the direction of a Chief Engineer or senior technical lead.
  • Lead subsystem design, integration, and validation activities across mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Coordinate technical execution across engineering disciplines to meet quality, schedule, and cost targets.
  • Participate in platform build, integration, testing, and evaluation activities.
  • Identify technical risks and issues and work with senior leadership to develop mitigation plans.
  • Support design reviews, drawing releases, and design change implementation.
  • Communicate technical status, risks, and tradeoffs clearly to Program Management and internal stakeholders.
  • Support customer interactions for assigned programs, maintaining a professional and positive customer experience.
  • Contribute to proposal development, scope definition, and technical input for new business opportunities.
  • Apply lessons learned across programs and support deployment of engineering best practices.
