About the position
This position involves assisting the Metro Asphalt and Paving Project Managers and Estimating Staff with various tasks and duties. These duties include but are not limited to: Set and reset no parking signs, place, maintain and remove storm water protection devices, hand out notices or door hangers to residences and office buildings, build asphalt ramps for utilities or milled surface joints, power washing, assist Project Manager with site supervision and crew start ups, project site clean up, asphalt ticket taking, occasional assistance with placement and moving of various traffic control devices, and other various manual tasks including, but not limited to, shoveling; sweeping; lifting, pushing and pulling various objects.
Responsibilities
- Must become a member of the local Labor Union
- Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
- Performs a variety of tasks which can involve strenuous manual labor
- Construction related duties as required
Requirements
- Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits
- Self-motivated and eager to learn new skills
- Perform well in a 'TEAM' environment
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
- Willing to work hours that are associated to the asphalt industry, including overtime and weekends as needed
- Ability to follow verbal and written instruction
- Basic mathematical skills
- Valid driver license is required
- Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen
Nice-to-haves
- Some construction experience preferred but not required
