The Project Installer Apprentice – Electrical supports licensed electricians and field leaders with the installation, routing, and connection of electrical systems on commercial projects. This entry-level role is ideal for candidates looking to build a long-term career in the electrical trade while learning from highly skilled professionals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work on active construction sites and lift 50–75 lbs.
  • Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, or in tight spaces.
  • Strong work ethic, teachability, and punctuality.
  • Ability to comply with safety standards and PPE requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation of electrical wiring, conduits, cable trays, lighting systems, panels, and related components.
  • Measure, cut, bend, and install conduit using hand and power tools (EMT, PVC, rigid, flex, etc.).
  • Pull wire and assist in terminating circuits under supervision.
  • Support layout tasks such as identifying pathways, mounting heights, and equipment locations.
  • Help install electrical panels, junction boxes, receptacles, lighting fixtures, and switches.
  • Load, unload, organize, and secure materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and OSHA‑compliant work areas in accordance with Upchurch safety protocols.
  • Read and follow basic electrical drawings, schematics, and instructions (training provided).
  • Assist with testing and troubleshooting completed systems to ensure proper function.
  • Follow all directions from the Electrical Foreman and contribute as part of the field team.
  • Participate in Upchurch’s on-the-job training and electrical skill-building programs.
