About The Position

Great Basin Staffing is hiring an experienced Project HSE Coordinator for a long-term industrial project supporting Exxon in Odessa. This role is for a professional, field-forward safety leader who can run daily safety operations, keep the project inspection-ready, and communicate confidently with client reps and craft leadership—especially when things get hectic.

Requirements

  • OSHA 510 REQUIRED
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred / near required
  • Proven experience as an HSE Coordinator/Safety Lead on industrial construction projects.
  • Strong field auditing skills (LOTO, fall protection, hot work, confined space, mobile equipment controls).
  • Self-starter who can work independently and prioritize tasks on a fast-moving site.
  • Professional client-facing communication and strong documentation habits.
  • Basic computer skills (email, Word/Excel, digital reporting).
  • Ability to work 6×10s (Mon–Sat) and meet site expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 500 preferred
  • First Aid/CPR/AED, HAZWOPER, incident investigation training (5-Why/SCAT/TapRooT).
  • Prior Exxon or refinery/chemical plant safety environment experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily HSE coordination: field presence, audits/inspections, and proactive hazard identification.
  • Implement and enforce site safety policies, JHAs, permit processes, and client-specific requirements.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings/toolbox talks; coach foremen and crews on safe execution.
  • Maintain documentation: inspection logs, corrective action tracking, incident/near-miss reporting, training records, and metrics.
  • Support incident investigations and root-cause analysis; drive corrective actions to closure.
  • Interface professionally with Exxon/client stakeholders, site leadership, and craft personnel.
  • Maintain a calm, professional demeanor and clear communication during high-pressure situations.
  • Use basic computer tools to track safety data, submit reports, and communicate updates (email, Excel/Word as needed).
