About The Position

We are looking for a Project Financial Business and Systems Analyst to join our team! You will be responsible for managing the full financial lifecycle of projects, from setup and budgeting to reporting and closeout, while ensuring accurate data in our ERP and project management systems. You will provide financial insights, support decision-making, and work closely with project teams, operations, and leadership to improve processes, internal controls, and reporting efficiency! This is a hybrid position, requiring in-office work three days per week at our St. Paul, Minnesota location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in project accounting, financial analysis, or systems-related finance roles.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and experience working in a regulated environment; knowledge of CAS, DCAA, and FAR strongly preferred.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems, financial reporting, and data analysis.
  • Experience developing dashboards, automated reporting, or ERP enhancements.
  • Skilled in budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, variance analysis, and WIP reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Experience implementing or improving financial processes and internal controls.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multiple teams.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all project lifecycle from project set up to close out in company ERP system.  Projects are set up to align with as sold contracts, project type, budgets, costs, revenue recognition rules, etc.  Proper close out to include final performance reporting, billing, subcontract and revenue reconciliations, etc.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and financial models.
  • Track project costs, expenditures, and commitments against approved budgets.
  • Prepare variance analysis and highlight financial risks or opportunities.
  • Support long-term financial planning and expenditure forecasting.
  • Perform finance activities for Joint Venture partnerships including project and partner reporting, invoicing, and other contract commitments.
  • Work in Progress (WIP) analysis and reporting.
  • Record and reconcile project-related transactions in financial systems.
  • Generate financial reports for project stakeholders, including cost reports, progress billing, and KPI dashboards.
  • Ensure accurate project accruals and cost allocations according to company process.
  • Assist project managers in interpreting financial data for decision-making.
  • Implement, maintain, and monitor financial controls related to projects.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, GAAP/IFRS accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct audits or reviews of project financials to identify discrepancies or inefficiencies.
  • Recommend process improvements to strengthen controls and reduce risk.
  • Act as liaison between project teams, finance, and other business units.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to project managers and operations teams.
  • Participate in project review meetings, providing insights into budget, forecast, and risk status.
  • Identify potential financial risks in project execution and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and report on financial impact of changes in project scope, schedule, or resources.
  • Support scenario analysis and cost-benefit evaluations for strategic decision-making.
  • Maintain project financial data in ERP, sales and project management systems.
  • Support ongoing templates, dashboards, and automated reporting tools.
  • Recommend enhancements to financial processes and reporting frameworks to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of business processes and applications and stays current in technical enhancements, methodologies and trends related to the assigned application(s).
  • Analyzes existing processes and systems and identifies technical or procedural improvements.
  • Recommends business practices to optimize use of business process/system(s).
  • Develops operational procedures for products, services and systems, and designs processes to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Develops and generates special and ad hoc reports.
  • Provides technical support to business unit, customers, management and other users.
  • Serves as liaison between business process system users and other corporate areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
