Position Summary: We are seeking a highly analytical Project Financial Analyst to serve as a key financial partner to program and project managers within a Government Contracting (GovCon) environment. This role is heavily focused on program financial support, requiring the ability to interpret data, answer complex financial questions, and deliver insights that directly drive business decisions and program performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of FP&A, program finance, or project finance experience, preferably in a government contracting (GovCon) environment.
  • Hands-on experience with budgeting, forecasting, EACs, variance analysis, and financial modeling at the project or program level.
  • Knowledge of government contract types and cost structures, including direct and indirect costs and indirect rate calculations.
  • Proficiency with ERP, analytics, and financial planning tools, including Deltek Costpoint, Power BI, Vena (or similar), and advanced Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary financial partner to program and project managers, providing timely, accurate, and actionable insights into revenue, cost, margin, labor utilization, and overall program profitability.
  • Monitor and analyze project financial performance to assess project health, identify risks, issues, and opportunities, and proactively recommend corrective actions when variances arise.
  • Lead project- and program-level budgeting, forecasting, and Estimate at Completion (EAC) processes in collaboration with project managers, ensuring assumptions are well-supported and aligned with operational plans.
  • Support management decision-making through scenario and what-if analysis, evaluating the financial impact of changes in project assumptions, resource allocations, and business conditions.
  • Perform detailed variance analysis (actuals vs. budget/forecast), identify key drivers, and clearly communicate financial impacts to stakeholders.
  • Validate month-end project cost accruals to ensure accurate expense recognition, revenue reporting, and compliance with accounting and contract requirements.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support program performance analysis, forecasting, pricing, and ad hoc requests.
  • Produce clear, decision-oriented reports and dashboards that enable leadership to understand program performance, trends, and risks, leveraging analytics and financial planning tools.
  • Support pricing and financial planning activities by applying knowledge of direct and indirect cost structures, including indirect rate methodologies.
  • Analyze financial implications across multiple government contract types (cost-plus, fixed-price, T&M) and leverage ERP and reporting systems to extract, validate, and analyze financial data.
