About The Position

The Project Executive at Sundt Construction is responsible for leading and managing heavy civil and highway projects, ensuring they are executed safely, profitably, and on time. This role involves overseeing project transitions from estimating to execution, maintaining quality and integrity, and managing relationships with various stakeholders. The Project Executive is expected to have extensive experience in managing large, complex projects, typically valued at over $200 million, and to contribute to business development and project success.

Requirements

  • 11+ years of experience in construction management, specifically in heavy civil and highway projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field.
  • PMP certification is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large projects of a complex nature and/or multiple projects totaling $200 million or more.

  • Experience in preconstruction management.
  • Thorough knowledge of contract documents and construction operations.

Responsibilities

  • Champions the orderly, timely transition of projects from the estimating phase to the field.
  • Completes close-out requirements and punch lists in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates with the Project Team the means and methods required for the successful and profitable execution of the work.
  • Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Establishes the project charter and a comprehensive project management plan (PMP).
  • Has overall responsibility for project success, including safety, schedule, profitability, and quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Manages all billings to ensure timely submission of payment applications and collection of payments from the owner.
  • Manages the development of the overall CPM schedule and assures coordination with the Project Superintendent and the procurement schedule.
  • Participates in the business development process including client contacts, relationships, proposals, presentations, and negotiations.
  • Provides feedback to estimators for use in future bidding or negotiations.
  • Responsible for the preparation of Monthly Progress Report in coordination with the Superintendent(s).
  • Responsible for the timely preparation and execution of purchase order agreements and subcontracts.
  • Responsible for understanding and administering prime contract terms and conditions.
  • Reviews and executes all change orders, supplements, and cost control budget adjustments.
  • Reviews estimates with attention to cost control, equipment requirements, constructability, and scheduling.
