About The Position

P.J. Helicopters / Quanta Aviation Services, LLC, a leader in utility helicopter construction and aviation services, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Estimator to join our team in Red Bluff, CA. This role is critical to our success in delivering aerial construction and services projects including projects involving helicopters and unmanned aerial systems (UAS). The Project Estimator will develop accurate cost estimates, support bid preparation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure competitive and realistic project proposals. Requirements

  • 1–2 years of experience in estimating, construction, or a related field (internships or coursework applicable).
  • Basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications, or utility infrastructure projects.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to analyze complex data and develop accurate cost projections.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational skills to ensure precision in estimates and documentation.
  • Communication: Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and master industry-specific tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Familiarity with aviation or utility construction is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Cost Estimation: Prepare precise cost estimates for aerial construction, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), and forestry / firefighting projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and project scopes.
  • Data Analysis: Research and compile data on labor rates, material costs, equipment expenses, and subcontractor pricing to inform estimates.
  • Bid Development: Assist in creating comprehensive bid packages, including detailed cost breakdowns, schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Team Collaboration: Partner with project managers, finance, and field operations teams to align estimates with project requirements and execution plans.
  • Database Management: Maintain and update cost history databases, ensuring accurate unit pricing for services, materials, equipment, and subcontractor support.
  • Process Optimization: Identify and recommend improvements to estimating workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Special Projects: Support ad hoc initiatives, including project costing, resource planning, and operational analysis.
