About The Position

TRC is seeking a mid-level Civil/Environmental Engineer, Geologist, or Environmental Scientist to join our Engineering, Construction, and Remediation practice in Rancho Cordova, CA. This career-oriented position requires providing clients all aspects of environmental consulting from proposal preparation to project execution. The position focuses on a candidate seeking to continue the development of technical skills and management of projects, new and existing clients, and workloads. The ideal candidate has experience executing field activities and drafting technical reports, as well as project or task management experience. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of senior managers, integrate with our diverse regional team, and demonstrate motivation to serve and grow a sustainable client base.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently or in a project team and demonstrate technical proficiency, responsibility, and accountability to perform assigned tasks to completion.
  • Ability to grasp scientific concepts and apply them to different technical challenges in a principally self-directed manner for various project needs.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely, within established frameworks for technical reporting, presentation, and discussion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including experience interfacing with clients in a professional and service-oriented manner.
  • High capacity for teamwork, creative collaboration, and responsible leadership and delegation; ability to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds and maintain a positive and professional work atmosphere.
  • Desire to learn and grow in various areas of technical expertise, project management, and business development.
  • High proficiency in data management and reporting using Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination and execution of environmental investigations, remedial actions, compliance programs, and designs.
  • Execution/oversight of environmental sampling (for soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil gas, and indoor air) in accordance with state and federal regulations, QA/QC procedures, and established standard operating procedures.
  • Evaluation of sample results, including development of supporting tables and figures.
  • Site characterization and technical evaluations regarding sources, transport, and fate of soil and groundwater contamination.
  • Preparation of technical reports, including documentation and summarization of field activities, data processing and analysis, drafting of soil boring and monitoring well construction logs, and development of conclusions and recommendations (including remedial options).
  • Project planning and preparation, including agency coordination, permitting, preparation of site-specific health and safety plans, coordination of internal field staff, and procurement activities.
  • Scheduling, field oversight, and management of subcontractors for utility location, drilling, excavation, waste disposal, etc.
  • Coordination and execution of Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments, Conceptual Remedial Action Plans, site closure reports, and other due diligence and site cleanup efforts.
  • Regulatory compliance support, including risk assessment, monitoring, plan development, and corrective action implementation using working knowledge of EPA and DTSC regulations, RCRA, ASTM standards, and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Storm water management, including the development of SWPPPs, BMP recommendations, and coordination of compliance inspections and sampling for construction, industrial, and municipal sites.
  • Construction monitoring/management, including review of submittals and RFIs, contractor/stakeholder coordination, QC inspection of compliance with plans and specifications, and environmental monitoring.
  • Development of construction documents (drawings, specifications, and cost estimates) and engineering calculations (i.e., for remedial, stormwater, and earthwork design).
  • Preparation of proposals for new and existing clients, including development of qualifications, technical approaches, and detailed cost estimates.
  • Project management and administration, including responsibility for invoicing, direct interface with clients, internal and external QA/QC and safety compliance, and accountable management of scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Implementation of TRC's safety, quality, and project management programs in accordance with industry best practices and company policies.
