Project Engineering

Mann+Hummel GmbHWilson, NC

About The Position

The role of Project Engineering involves providing comprehensive engineering support to enhance both products and manufacturing processes, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement initiatives. This includes the design, development, and refinement of air filtration products and associated filter systems. A core responsibility is serving as the primary expert for 2D and 3D CAD modeling. The engineer will be instrumental in identifying, designing, and implementing various manufacturing fixtures, tooling, and automation solutions to optimize production. The position also requires adept problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting product and production issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing effective corrective actions. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is crucial for improving product performance, manufacturability, and overall quality. The role extends to assisting in failure analysis, managing product changes, and integrating engineering updates. Developing and maintaining essential product and manufacturing documentation, such as work instructions and technical data, is also a key duty. Furthermore, the engineer will analyze and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs) and manufacturing routings within ERP systems, ensuring that design for manufacturability (DFM), cost, and risk considerations are aligned. Support for test methods, validation, and inspection criteria for products is also expected. The role involves staying current with industry trends and competitive products to inform next-generation development and applying lean manufacturing principles to boost efficiency and minimize waste. Training and mentoring team members may also be required. Specific support includes troubleshooting non-woven textile machinery and filtration media processing, focusing on material performance and manufacturability optimization. The engineer will also play a significant role in SAP system launch activities, including data validation, BOM setup, and cross-functional coordination, and provide ongoing SAP support for engineering data maintenance and accuracy.
