About The Position

The Low Voltage Project Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the Low Voltage Project Engineering group. The Project Engineering Manager drives the performance of the team, ensuring that key performance indicators (KPIs) are met. This role involves creating and implementing processes and procedures for the Project Engineering group to generate cable matrices, schedules, and labels that detail cable routing, endpoints, and final labels. This position blends technical project engineering expertise with people leadership, process ownership, and cross-functional collaboration. The Project Engineering Manager establishes standards, drives performance against KPIs, and ensures engineering deliverables enable safe, efficient, and accurate project execution. Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in project engineering, estimating, or project management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of network cabling systems, including COAX, fiber optics, and copper cabling.
  • Strong understanding of engineering processes, principles, and project management.
  • Proficiency in creating cable matrices, schedules, labels, and RFIs.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant engineering tools.
  • Experience in testing and managing test results for network cabling projects.
  • Proven track record of managing teams to meet performance goals and KPIs.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in hyperscale data center environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Project Engineering team.
  • Lead the team to achieve KPIs and ensure overall performance goals are met.
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures to improve the efficiency and accuracy of project engineering activities.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to the team, fostering professional growth and development.
  • Ensure alignment between the Operations & Project Engineering groups and organizational goals.
  • Manage the generation of cable matrices and schedules that clearly identify cable routing, endpoints and final labels.
  • Oversee the development of detailed labels for all cables and components, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all Requests for Information (RFIs) produced by the team.
  • Provide engineering support to the operations team, ensuring all project documents and specifications are readily accessible.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure successful project delivery by setting them up with accurate engineering documentation.
  • Provide engineering support to the Estimating team, ensuring all Cable runs have been accounted for and that all parts are captured on the PML/BOM.
  • Oversee ancillary engineering tasks such as setting up project documentation, including cable schedules, test result templates and visual references.
  • Work closely with Operations and Project Management to ensure engineering support meets project demands.
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering tools and technologies.
  • Drive process improvements within the Project Engineering group, ensuring best practices are implemented and followed.
  • Monitor team performance against established KPIs and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Ensure that all project engineering processes are documented and continuously refined to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and excellence within the team.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders, including Sales, Operations, and clients, to ensure project engineering deliverables meet expectations.
  • Act as the point of contact for all engineering-related inquiries and issues.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on the performance of the Project Engineering group.
  • Align the work of the Project Engineering group with the broader strategic goals of the organization.
  • Report directly to the Vice President or equivalent on group performance and strategy.
  • Contribute to the development of long-term strategies for growth and improvement in project engineering functions.
  • Drive innovation and implementation of new tools, technologies, and methodologies within the group.
