About The Position

The Project Engineering Lead at dsm-firmenich is responsible for optimizing and improving the production plant, utilities, and general site infrastructure through process and project engineering support and capital project management. This role involves overseeing the complete project life cycle, from engineering design to construction management, commissioning, and startup phases, ensuring compliance with safety standards and project specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering disciplines or construction services.
  • Five or more years of experience in process engineering design and project management in chemical, oil/gas, pharmaceutical, or food ingredient manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of relevant engineering practices and PSM and OSHA requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and troubleshoot ongoing process and system issues, providing technical solutions.
  • Independently develop engineering packages for field implementation across multiple disciplines such as process, mechanical, civil, and electrical.
  • Provide process technology recommendations and equipment selection.
  • Collaborate with external engineering contractors to deliver project engineering packages.
  • Manage the procurement process by soliciting contractor bids and selecting appropriate contracts for project execution.
  • Plan project tasks and coordinate with contractors, maintenance, and operations teams, including issuing necessary permits.
  • Supervise on-site construction contractors to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and safe execution of the project.
  • Coordinate inspection and testing schedules with contractors and conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) when required.
  • Serve as the primary resource for executing the commissioning and startup phases of the project.
  • Take responsibility for engineered solutions and provide essential commissioning and startup documentation, including procedures and test protocols.
  • Lead the complete project life cycle, defining, executing, and evaluating site small capex projects.
  • Establish and adhere to project schedules and manage project budgets, including forecasting, spending, invoicing, and project closing.
  • Drive all tasks in projects to expedite executions and schedule periodic project reviews with stakeholders.
  • Execute projects in compliance with DSM procedures and standards, promoting positive safety behaviors at all times.
  • Manage the full MOC process for the project and engage in PHA, HAZOP, and PSSR steps.
