About The Position

The Project Engineering Associate Manager leads a team of mechanical and electrical (M&E) subject matter experts (SMEs). The candidate leads the team in converting operational needs into clear requirements and statements of work (SOWs), reviews architect engineer (A/E) designs for compliance, constructability, and maintainability, and resolves sustainment issues to keep facility infrastructure reliable and mission-ready. The role establishes clear processes and quality gates and serves as the technical authority for program requirements with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • Demonstrated leadership in an engineering environment (acting lead, task coordination, mentoring) and readiness to step into first-line people leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating cross-functional efforts that deliver requirements and SOWs for M&E scope.
  • Experience reviewing A/E designs, submittals, and RFIs for compliance, constructability, and maintainability.
  • Proven ability to lead troubleshooting and field investigations with cross-functional teams (operations, sustainment, A/E partners, vendors, and test/commissioning), drive root cause and corrective actions to verified closure, and document results.
  • Ability to plan scope and schedules, manage risk, change, and configuration (SOWs, basis of design, Facility Design Criteria (FDC), Facility Evaluation Test (FET), and reports).
  • Clear, concise communication with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supervising exempt staff, including hiring, training, performance assessment, work assignments, and recognition or disciplinary actions.
  • Working knowledge of codes and standards for M&E systems (NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, ASME, IEEE).
  • Configuration and change control for SOWs, Facility Design Criteria (FDC), Field Evaluation Test (FET) procedures and reports, and related approvals.
  • Experience with Milcon design and construction.
  • Proficiency with planning and documentation tools; ability to review BIM/CAD outputs (Revit or AutoCAD).
  • Models Full Spectrum Leadership (FSL) behaviors.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee hiring and onboarding and manage SME staffing, capacity, and assignments (workforce planning).
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and career development opportunities.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative culture that encourages open communication and diverse perspectives.
  • Establish standards and quality gates for requirements, SOWs, design reviews, submittals, and requests for information (RFIs); ensure compliance with applicable codes/standards and authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) expectations.
  • Review architect engineer (A/E) design packages for compliance, constructability, maintainability, and life cycle impact.
  • Maintain configuration and change control across M&E scope (submittals, RFIs, redlines); verify A/E as built deliverables.
  • Set priorities and scope for M&E requirements, SOWs, and the sustainment backlog in line with mission, budget, and schedule.
  • Own team performance and the execution of program milestones and deliverables.
  • Incorporate LM Space digital transformation strategies into Weapons System Infrastructure and Capabilities (WSIC) to enable model-based reviews, configuration automation, and analytics for backlog health.
