The Project Engineer-Mechanical is responsible for oversight of Veolia construction projects. This position will be dedicated to supporting large construction activities in the US and Canada. This individual will provide direct daily support to a large construction project in Gum Springs, Arkansas in the near term and additional projects as business needs change over time.

  • Provide construction project team with field engineering support for construction activities.
  • Assist in the coordination of both design and construction activities at the site.
  • Work with existing operations team and on-site contractors to ensure that work is properly coordinated and done safely.
  • Create a collaborative work environment.
  • Manage document control library of all pertinent construction documentation, drawing updates.
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure that materials are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Prepare estimates for labor costs, materials costs, and equipment costs to determine project budgets.
  • Ensure that safety procedures are followed during construction to prevent injuries or damage to property.
  • Meet with clients to discuss project details and requirements, such as materials needed or design specifications.
  • Draft detailed construction plans, including diagrams of mechanical systems and layouts of machinery rooms or buildings.
  • Review blueprints and design drawings to ensure conformance to industry standards.
  • Coordinate with architects and contractors to ensure that designs meet legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical support to construction crews during the building phase of projects.
  • Identify potential risks and develop plans to mitigate them.
  • Complete technical studies and prepare cost estimates.
  • Maintain records of and manage/approve contractor change requests and work to resolve issues with mechanical design.
  • Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
  • Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends and recommending actions.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintain project database and product/company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Construction or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Construction.
  • Strong analytical skills and process focus.
  • Tenacity and energy in leading change toward a high performing work environment.
  • Design and analytical skills as normally attained through education and field experience.
  • Auto CAD proficiency.
  • Ability to influence and coach others for results.
  • Problem-solving skills and follow-up ability.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to understand and use reference materials (manuals, schematics, etc.).
  • Strong problem solving and project management skills.
  • Strong PC skills with proficiency in word processing, project scheduling, spreadsheet and database software.
  • Proficiency in the care and use of all site specific, facility required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment).
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate, effective, complete and easily understood written communications and reports.
  • Demonstrated commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company's Code of Business Conduct and other Company policies and procedures.
  • OSHA - Industrial safety recognition and management (hot work, confined space, shoring and trenching, LOTO, fall protection, JSA others as needed).
