About The Position

This position is responsible for providing project support under the direction of a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager. This is a Field and/or Office position. Performs ancillary duties as required. A proficient Project Engineer typically becomes a Project Manager in 3-5 years. Requirements

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to understand Contract plans and specifications.
  • Ability to perform accurate estimating and buying takeoffs for mechanical/civil systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and habits.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work in high pace environment.
  • History and ability to maintain high attendance and punctuality.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or related.
  • 2-5 Years’ Experience
  • OSHA 10, HAZWOPER, FIRST AID.
  • Competent Person- Trenching, Confined Space, LOTO
  • Hearing and vision within normal ranges are essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information, and to prepare, inspect, or review documents.
  • Activities require the ability to remain in a stationary position roughly 50% of the time and move about an office and/or work site the other half of the time.
  • Occasional heavy lifting (30+ lb. / 13.6+ kg) can be expected, though exertion of up to 10 lbs. of force is more common.
  • Need good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment (e.g., computers, mobile devices, copiers).
  • Must wear steel-toed boots, must wear protective eye-wear, hearing protection, may work outdoors during inclement weather, ability to travel by car or plane, high frequency of computer keyboarding, high frequency of viewing a computer monitor, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Mastery of Microsoft Office products: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Estimating and Construction Software
  • Knowledge of Scheduling Software
  • Licensing as a Professional Engineer, General Contractor, PSSC, or Mechanical Contractor is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, measure, and report progress towards project goals.
  • Complete knowledge of Project plans and specifications.
  • Assists the Project Manager in planning work schedules and coordinating project activities to ensure the project progresses on schedule and within the prescribed budget.
  • Consider and include all Health and Safety requirements applicable to the planning and coordination phases of the project.
  • Advises the Project Manager of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties.
  • Assists in circumventing/resolving such problems as required.
  • Oversees day-to-day project tasks to include submittals, material requisitions, Requests for Information, Applications for Payment, and job review packages.
  • Issue Purchase Orders for vendors and Subcontractors after approval.
  • Coordinates Subcontractor work.
  • Secures equipment and equipment rental price quotes, orders equipment, and tracks delivery.
  • Visits job sites regularly and performs work inspections, checks job progress, and resolves project and contract issues.
  • Prepares special reports, studies, and conducts statistical analysis per the supervisor’s request.
  • Compiles Operations and Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
  • Assists with As-Built drawings preparation and submittal.
  • Completes project closeout documents.
  • Performs or facilitates material takeoff, estimating, and pricing procedures for changes to work scope as well as for new project estimating.
  • Attends and represents the project team at various meetings.
  • Creates project billing on projects monthly in accordance with approved processes under PM supervision.
  • Reviews accounts receivable.
  • Reviews labor productivity reports with the Superintendent and Foreman for each trade to foster effective project communication and help ensure accurate labor projections.
  • Reviews and manages the project financials.
  • Performs data entry tasks as necessary.
  • Performs any other duties per the direction of the Project Manager or DCO.
