About The Position

Saylor Consulting Group is a cost consulting firm providing expertise in the areas of construction management, cost management, project controls and value management. We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer with specific experience providing support for project construction, start-up, and commissioning especially in support of public water and utility agency projects. Pior work with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission or other San Francisco Bay Area water/utility agencies is preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in a similar role or position in construction.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint) and SharePoint.
  • Experience using BlueBeam and Adobe software for document reviews/mark-ups.
  • Ability to take initiative and make sound decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Pior work with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission or other San Francisco Bay Area water/utility agencies is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support in the Commissioning quality assurance process to help the program team ensure that related project systems and components are installed and operate as intended.
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of pre-functional and functional checklists and conducting field functional testing as required for the Commissioning process.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative and technical support to the department or program management team.
  • Coordinate with internal staff and cross-functional teams to streamline project workflows and document processing.
  • Facilitate the resolution of conflicts and operational issues to maintain project momentum and meet deadlines.
  • Participate in coordination meetings to ensure alignment on project status, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Support coordination efforts with external stakeholders or field teams to ensure seamless execution of objectives.
  • Perform detailed quality assurance reviews of contractual documents, project modifications, and proposals for completeness and accuracy.
  • Monitor revisions and variances to ensure timely processing of approvals and contract adjustments.
  • Interpret and analyze technical specifications, plans, or guidelines relevant to the project or department.
  • Review and strictly adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding document processing and workflow management.
  • Prepare and submit documentation for final departmental or executive approval.
  • Maintain tracking logs, databases, and electronic records for departmental use, ensuring data integrity and easy reference.
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly progress reports for management review.
  • Collect, track, and document "lessons learned" or project outcomes to support continuous improvement and efficient project closeouts.
  • Generate and distribute meeting minutes and action items to confirm discussions and accountability.
  • Maintain an organized electronic filing system and archive for all reviews and project records.
