About The Position

Shimmick is seeking a highly talented Project Engineer to be based in Austin, TX in support of heavy civil infrastructure projects in the region. Shimmick’s National Division operates throughout the central and eastern U.S., with a decades-long history of delivering successful transportation, transit, mining infrastructure, and water resources projects. This division has delivered over $5 billion in work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, primarily in the water resources sector, and is currently delivering the $260 million Gilcrease Expressway project in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field + 6 years of heavy civil construction experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in heavy civil construction projects (rail/transit, water/wastewater, bridges, etc.) in Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing day-to-day project activities and field operations.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and submittals for accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and track RFIs, change orders, and other project documentation.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and field crews.
  • Support cost control, scheduling, and quality assurance efforts.
  • Ensure safety and environmental compliance on-site.
  • Facilitate effective communication among project stakeholders.
