Location: This position is located at our Corporate Office in East Jordan, Michigan. SUMMARY Supports, coordinates, and leads projects in the areas of design, planning, organization, and integration by performing the following duties personally or through liaison with other engineers, designers, consultants, suppliers, or others as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university in Mechanical or Structural Engineering
  • one to two years related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • knowledge of Database software; Design software including AutoCAD and Solidworks; Manufacturing software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Responsibilities

  • Formulates engineering solutions to problems and develops plans according to project requirements. This may involve technical studies, calculations, and research.
  • Prepares specifications and designs.
  • Consults with and receives proposals and quotes from contractors and suppliers.
  • Prepares drawings, cost estimates, time schedules, written descriptions, and instructions for the project.
  • Prepares requests for funds and justification for projects.
  • Initiates purchases of necessary equipment, parts, or materials and then arranges for workforce to execute the project plans.
  • Prepares applications and obtains necessary permits.
  • Coordinates activities of contractors, maintenance, and production personnel to efficiently complete projects. Also, provides effective communication to all management and leaders.
  • Monitors progress and adherence to plans and specifications to assure proper installation and start-up.
  • Prepares project status reports and maintains communications between all parties involved to avoid conflicts and promote progress to completion.
  • Resolves engineering design and/or installation questions.

  • Maintains project files and drawings, update and revise as needed.
