About The Position

Kimley-Horn's Saint Paul, Minnesota (MN) office is seeking a Project Engineer with 7+ years of scheduling, estimating, and change order management experience to join our Transit team! The Project Engineer will work on Transit and other types of infrastructure projects throughout the Twin Cities metro area and be responsible for supporting the owner in the following tasks: Negotiating and writing up detailed change orders Reviewing contractor’s cost (labor, equipment, and materials) and comparing it to the owner’s independent cost estimate (ICE) Aligning scope and quantities, developing cost analysis, and negotiating final cost Account for and document changes to scope elements, including track, pavement, curb and gutter, utilities/drainage, bridges, soil corrections, stations, and more Review project contractual documents (i.e. specifications, plans/drawings) and develop detailed cost estimates on specific construction activities based on appropriate production rates and assumed construction approach Review & evaluate contractor submitted time impact analysis schedules for conformity and reasonableness Develop project construction schedules using critical path method scheduling At Kimley-Horn, we do things differently. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred
  • 7 or more years of related experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Project and/or Primavera (P6) software and understanding of critical path method scheduling preferred
  • Close attention to detail
  • Technical writing skills
  • Ability to follow procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects
  • Ability to effectively communicate positively at all levels of the organization

Nice To Haves

  • Systems experience a plus but not required

Responsibilities
