As a Project Engineer at Mortenson, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of construction projects across various sectors, including sports, renewable energy, data centers, and healthcare. Your primary responsibilities will involve reviewing, analyzing, and managing field coordination issues in collaboration with project team members and stakeholders. You will interpret project plans, specifications, and details to guide subcontractors and craft personnel effectively. Additionally, you will implement a pre-construction quality plan and ensure that all necessary construction permits are obtained and maintained, working closely with the Project Manager for any associated fee payments or recurring permit expenses. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining essential project documentation, including the Material Tracking List, Project Test and Inspection Listing, Concrete Placement Log, and Non-Conformance Report. Your role will also involve managing, creating, and distributing contract documents, establishing procedures for handling electronic documents such as Requests for Information (RFIs) and correspondence, and incorporating processes that support the project closeout phase. You will oversee all aspects of testing and inspection processes as part of the construction quality management program, implementing a three-phase inspection system and establishing reporting formats, protocols, and schedules for off-site testing procedures. In addition to these responsibilities, you will manage submittals, set up registers in accordance with project specifications, and prepare project-specific transmittal forms. You will coordinate the packaging, review, and processing of submittals, ensuring that material deliveries align with the project schedule. Effective communication with subcontractors and suppliers regarding the submittal process will be essential, as will providing periodic updates of the submittal register to the customer or architect. You will also coordinate details with various subcontractors, verify insurance, prepare necessary paperwork, and request final payments from Finance. Your leadership skills will be vital as you lead team members by example, offering coaching and feedback while managing performance. You will determine alternative work methods as needed, coordinate safety and compliance for all team members, and maintain a schedule of timelines, following through until project completion.
