Our diverse project portfolio includes building renovations, MEPF systems, public works, infrastructure development, and environmental compliance. We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our team at our Bohemia and Oneida locations. The Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for the design of HVAC, mechanical, heating, plumbing, and fire protection systems for new construction, renovations, additions, and system upgrades/retrofits, construction administration and project management responsibilities for clients in state, local, and federal government and private industry.

  • Engineering design of HVAC systems, air handling units, Mechanical systems, Heating systems, boilers, including sustainable design in all phases of a project.
  • Perform field inspections for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, fire alarm and sprinkler systems; may include low-voltage electrical systems (CCTV, Security Access).
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications. Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes and standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers and clients to define project scope, objectives, and requirements. Create project plans and timelines including development of project costs and focus on quality.
  • Address any technical issues and challenges that may arise during project execution and provide timely solutions.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates on project status, addressing their concerns, and ensuring their satisfaction with the project.
  • Construction administration services, such as: submittal and shop drawing reviews, review and respond to RFI, the schedule and coordination.
  • 5 years of broad-based mechanical design experience in building systems of government, industrial, commercial facilities.
  • 5 years of mechanical/MEP engineering design, construction administration services, and project management experience including conceptualizing solutions, development of HVAC models, load calculations, site surveys, program reports, design review, air handling units, rooftop units, hot water heaters, boiler rooms, digital control systems, heating systems, equipment submittals; project schedules, cost estimates; renewable energy systems; and sustainable design.
  • Additional experience in plumbing, refrigeration, electrical, CCTV, Security Card Access, Structural, Fueling systems helpful.
  • Project management experience from onset to completion, and work with subcontractors/subconsultants.
  • Construction administration services experience including develop punch lists, working with subcontractors, and permitting.
  • Proficient with building codes and guidelines such as NYS Energy Code, NYS Mechanical Code, NYS Building Code, and NFPA codes helpful.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Professional engineering license (P.E.) preferred.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong AutoCAD skills.
  • Demonstrated ability as a problem solver.
  • Competency with MS Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).
  • Experience with online project management platforms such as BlueBeam, ProCore, and Submittal Exchange.
  • Direct experience in systems installation or with a contractor is a plus.
