About The Position

Kennedy Jenks is seeking an ambitious and service-oriented Project Engineer to join our growing Hawaii market. As a Project Engineer, you will play a key role in our water/wastewater practice, contributing to design work and acting as a lead on multiple projects. This role is ideal for an individual skilled in managing multiple tasks and deadlines while collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team of project engineers and managers. Projects will include a variety of water, wastewater, recycled water, utility infrastructure, and treatment process improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related scientific discipline is required.
  • Hawaii Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain PE within 6 months of hire.
  • 5+ years of relevant water/wastewater engineering experience.
  • Broad understanding of municipal engineering, site development design, construction methods, and design and construction codes.
  • Proficiency in various software including AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil3D, and Microsoft products.
  • Ability to interact professionally with both internal teams and external clients, analyze technical documents, and communicate effectively.

  • A Master's degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Analysis: Prepare detailed designs, specifications, and drawings. Conduct design calculations and manage technical tasks with the support of senior team members in planning, design, and construction project phases. Assist the Project Manager where needed.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical expertise to multi-disciplinary project teams in planning and executing infrastructure projects, including pipelines, pump stations, and treatment facilities. Understand and apply industry standards, client requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Field Work: Conduct site inspections and field measurements. Engage in field activities, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis.
  • Documentation: Prepare engineering documents and contract documents, including technical reports, construction plans, and specifications. Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to requests for information, and prepare site observation reports. Maintain accurate project records, reports, and documentation.
  • Project Management: Support larger projects or lead smaller projects/tasks, coordinating with the Project Manager, team members, and sub-consultants. Attend both internal and external meetings as necessary. Ensure the timely completion of tasks and assist in managing project budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Assist in preparing client presentations and maintaining client communication. Ensure compatibility with design intent by coordinating with other disciplines.
