Our Southeast Water business is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support a variety of infrastructure projects across the DC Metro and Southeast Region. In this role, you'll contribute to the engineering evaluation, design, permitting, and construction administration of water, wastewater, stormwater, and other environmental and civil systems. You'll be involved in preparing technical reports and proposals, assisting with project studies, and supporting construction oversight to ensure quality and compliance. This position offers the chance to work closely with experienced engineers and clients, helping to plan and execute impactful projects. You'll also collaborate with junior staff by sharing insights and offering informal guidance, while building strong working relationships with clients through regular updates and coordination. Requirements

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field of study.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License or ability to obtain it in the near future.
  • 5-12 years of experience with municipal water, wastewater, stormwater projects including engineering evaluations, design, permitting, and construction administration.
  • Previous consulting experience strongly desired.
  • Able and willing to travel for site visits and client meetings as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the engineering evaluation, design, permitting, and construction administration of water, wastewater, stormwater, and other environmental and civil systems.
  • Prepare technical reports and proposals.
  • Assist with project studies and support construction oversight to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Coordinate activities of subcontractors and suppliers as a primary point of contact for contract management.
  • Carry out engineering inspections under the supervision of senior colleagues to evaluate the quality of engineering works.
  • Help manage client and customer relationships using relevant sales or client systems.
  • Monitor and oversee construction works to ensure delivery in accordance with quality, cost, and time requirements.
  • Create engineering drawings to support communication and implementation of engineering solutions.
  • Contribute to the design of engineering solutions and supervise feasibility testing implementation.
  • Participate in personal capability building through training and coaching; maintain professional accreditation.
  • Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
  • Conduct research activities to support others or fulfill role requirements.
