Swift Engineering is looking for a Project Engineer, Systems located in San Clemente, CA. As part of this team, you will have a large impact on Swift’s next generation of Unmanned Aerial Systems. You will develop system test plans and procedures for software and/or hardware verification and validation of system requirements and execute simulator and flight tests. You will develop test cards that meet flight test objectives, analyze test results, and lead test readiness reviews and post-test debriefs. In this role, you will engage in frequent multi-disciplinary collaboration and work side by side with team members with the overall system design, integration, verification, and validation to ensure the highest quality production products for our customers. The Project Engineer, Systems is an integral part of the flight vehicle and requires deep care and attention to detail in order to fulfill our mission.

  • Develop system test plans and procedures for software and/or hardware verification and validation of system requirements.
  • Execute simulator and flight tests.
  • Develop test cards that meet flight test objectives.
  • Analyze test results.
  • Lead test readiness reviews and post-test debriefs.
  • Engage in multi-disciplinary collaboration with team members.
  • Ensure the highest quality production products for customers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in flight testing, flight test planning, or aviation systems development.
  • Hands-on experience with test instrumentation, data acquisition systems, or aircraft systems integration.
  • Demonstrated understanding of flight test principles, including test planning, execution, and data analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly understand new technical concepts.
  • Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams for complex test activities.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring a team.
  • Familiarity with test card development, safety risk assessments, and test methodology.
  • Strong software and documentation experience; familiarity with Linux-based operating systems.
  • Experience with GitHub, CircleCI, ssh, bash, and command line.
  • Experience working DoD programs.
  • Familiarity with remote operations and ground control stations.
  • Prior experience with military or civilian flight test operations.
  • Direct experience working with UAS platforms or autonomous systems.
  • Test Pilot School experience or equivalent training.
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or equivalent regulatory certification for UAS operations.
