About The Position

Pape-Dawson’s Tennessee office, formerly RaganSmith , was founded in 1933 as a land surveying company. More than nine decades later, we have grown into an interdisciplinary consulting firm of experienced civil engineers, landscape architects, transportation experts, savvy surveyors, and brilliant land planners serving the private and public sectors. In 2024, RaganSmith joined the Pape-Dawson family of companies. Pape-Dawson is an industry-leading, future-focused civil engineering and professional services firm with nationwide locations. We are seeking a full-time PE licensed Project Engineer based in our F ranklin , TN office. This position is responsible for assisting or leading civil site project design and production, client coordination and communication, stormwater management design, and permitting on a wide range of residential and commercial projects. The Project Engineer will collaborate in-house with other civil engineers, landscape architects, and land surveyors to assist our clients in developing public and private mixed-use projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • 5+ years of land or site development experience; proven understanding of land development, stormwater and, utility design
  • Active Tennessee PE or ability to achieve by reciprocity within 6 months
  • Experience in site design, entitlements, and permitting with local jurisdictions
  • Proven understanding of permitting process, codes, and criteria
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Background in turnkey site design in either residential, multi-family, or commercial
  • Knowledge of green infrastructure and LID

Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineering design calculations and construction plans to directly support site development projects including site grading, stormwater, utility design, and details, as well as prepare written drainage and utility reports.
  • Code, entitlements, and general due diligence research.
  • Analyze survey plans, reports, and other data collected to design projects
  • Forecast and adhere to project timelines
  • Use AutoCAD Civil 3D software to create designs
  • Collaborate with state, local, and federal jurisdictions for permitting
  • Additional related duties as needed
