The Environmental Engineering and Consulting team delivers solutions for complex environmental challenges using our regulatory expertise and implementing practical and cost-effective compliance management processes and programs. We address our clients’ biggest concerns around permitting, ecoservices, assessment, and remediation. The Project Engineer, Geologist or Scientist will work on the remediation project teams. This position will apply theory and principles of environmental engineering to real-world situations involving environmental site assessments, hydrogeologic assessments, chemical transport and fate evaluation, remedial technologies evaluation, and other related scientific and engineering endeavors. This person is an experienced consultant and is responsible for working with a project team to manage risk, meet project profitability goals, and manage both the internal team performance and client expectations. A DAY IN THE LIFE You will work on a variety of complex project sites throughout the US with primary focus in southeast. You will gain experience with various state and federal governing regulation, with the opportunity to advance your knowledge base with cross-training amongst the multitude of science and engineering disciplines represented by Montrose senior staff.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in engineering or environmental-Related Science (Geology) from an accredited four-year college or university
  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • Experience performing environmental collection, monitoring, sampling, testing and basic evaluation
  • Possess or plan to possess a Professional Engineer (PE) license or Professional Geologist (PG) license
  • Strong communication, problem solving and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment where you handle multiple project assignments and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and travel - ability to mobilize to a site with little notice may be occasionally needed
  • Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record
  • Complete and maintain HAZWOPER certification with the 40-hour HAZWOPER environmental health and safety class, and annual 8-hour refresher classes

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with ArcGIS and Microsoft Access are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform multi-media site assessment sampling and field oversight of drillers or other subcontractors. This includes planning for the field events and preparing cost estimates
  • Analyze data using advanced techniques, including statistical evaluation, database development and manipulation, and preparing GIS and 3-dimensional maps and models
  • Evaluate remedial technologies, including comparative analyses; evaluate human health and ecological risk; develop concept-level remedial design plans; and evaluate chemical transport and fate in the environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
