This entry-level position will assist in designing civil engineering projects focusing on rural/regional systems, and municipal water systems. This position has a focus in potable water projects. Project work will involve: Pipeline distribution systems, elevated/ground storage, municipal or regional water supply systems, and hydraulic modeling. Veterans encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related engineering field required.
  • 0-3 years engineering experience in potable water systems.
  • Knowledge/experience of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and water modeling software strongly preferred.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent listening and reading skills, including proofreading.
  • Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or daily as changes occur in project needs.
  • Effective problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Knowledge of pipeline distribution systems, elevated/ground storage tanks, municipal and regional water supply systems, irrigation and water diversion systems, water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pump stations and/or water collection systems.
  • Credibility and accountability in work performance.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to achieve business results.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain amount of detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to embrace new technology and processes including learning other software programs as needed (Adobe, Bluebeam, Deltek Vision accounting and project planning software, Client Relationship Management software, etc.).
  • Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership.
  • Good time management skills with ability to handle complex deadline driven workload.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team successfully.

Responsibilities

  • Develops plans and specifications for water projects.
  • Will focus on pipeline distribution systems, elevated/ground storage tanks, municipal or regional water supply systems, pump stations, and hydraulic modeling.
  • Performs environmental studies and writes technical reports.
  • May assist with proposal preparations and fee development.
  • Utilizes AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, in-house water distribution design model to design and analyze projects.
  • Interacts with vendors in selection of equipment (pumps, pipe materials, valves, treatment equipment, storage tanks, SCADA systems, and metering equipment).
  • Performs evaluations of sites, alternate solutions, costs and other considerations for client needs.
  • Manages engineering work and interfaces with other disciplines as needed.
  • Typically handles multiple projects for multiple clients simultaneously.
  • Visits clients and job sites as needed to support project(s) and business development needs, including evening meetings.
  • Serves as consultant on projects during construction phase.
