GFT is seeking a Project Engineer, Rail & Transit to support a variety of projects in the West Region. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Berkeley office. Requirements

  • At least 6-8 years of professional experience on a diverse range of projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required.
  • Registration as licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Experience with CADD
  • Experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with project proposals and presentations preferred
  • Expertise in some areas of Design Manuals and Guidelines
  • Some experience with management of small work groups and project tasks
  • Knowledge agency processes and coordination with agency and stakeholders
  • Possesses advanced oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the development of project design concepts and criteria and reviews project documents for conformity and quality assurance
  • Works with clients and other disciplines to prepare appropriate designs, as dictated by the scope of work
  • Analyzes moderate to complex design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures
  • Participates in constructability evaluations
  • Produces planning reports and studies as part of the project team
  • Provides direction to and supervision for Engineer I, II, & III
  • Communicate with clients on task-oriented issues and on project issues under the direction of the project manager.
  • Attends public and agency meetings and participates under direct supervision of the project manager
  • Works across disciplines to develop the overall design and plans for a project.
  • Leads the design of specific tasks
  • Conducts agency and stakeholder coordination.
  • Participates in the development of proposals as part of a pursuit team.
