The project engineer is responsible for coordinating all activities related to engineering support for motors that are in production. Leads VA/VE initiatives that pertain to operations, quality, and cost reduction tasks to continuously improve commercial value through end-of-life. Serves as engineering representative to the customer, and liaises with the manufacturing facility to address any emergent or ongoing issues related to the product. Works cross-functionally to maintain safety and quality of launched products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering field
  • 0 - 2 years experience in project management
  • Ability to work with CAD related design documents and ERP systems
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple projects on a continuous basis with frequent interruptions and manage time effectively
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and feel comfortable presenting to groups
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Must have excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Good customer communication
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities/create and update priority lists
  • Work on cross-functional teams to resolve issues and implement changes
  • Travel, both domestic and international, will be required approximately 10%

Responsibilities

  • Engineering change orders and deviations as necessary to support production
  • Lead VA/VE initiatives to identify and implement design changes and process improvements to enhance quality and manufacturability of Nidec products
  • Maintains accurate documentation of engineering changes, troubleshooting, and quality control measures
  • Works with cross-functional team (i.e. quality, procurement, etc.) to help determine root cause of issues related to production motors
  • Identify and validate alternative components when parts go end-of-life
  • Create cost reduction ideas and implement cost reductions
  • Work with customer to support customer-requested modifications to motors in production
  • Support the creation of new salable entities using existing products with minor changes
