About The Position

CDI Engineering Solutions, a subsidiary of Tata Consulting Engineers Limited, is seeking a Project Engineer I to perform routine to difficult design assignments requiring knowledge of basic drafting techniques and applicable industry standards. The position involves supervising other design personnel and is designed to further develop the incumbent's job knowledge and abilities.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent with basic drafting courses training from vo-tech or other applicable program.
• Fifteen plus years of technical work experience or a minimum of four years of education in an associate or bachelor degree program for the relevant discipline supplementing eleven plus years of experience.
• Working knowledge of CADD applications.
• Experience based on knowledge, skills, and abilities may qualify with the approval of Director of Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Plans the work for the design team.
• Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities, and implements it in work designed.
• Assembles and maintains drawing register.
• Participates in preparation of and maintains the budget for his design effort.
• Reviews, and is responsible for meeting the schedule and advising management of schedule errors and deviations from the schedule.
• Prepares man-hour estimates for new projects and changes in design.
• Marks up works in progress for others to draft (or CADD).
• Prepares complex engineering and construction drawings from scratch, sketches, or verbal instruction, utilizing manual or computer-assisted drafting/design techniques.
• Performs related fundamental engineering support tasks such as updating computer lists, filing prints, distributing drawings, making simple calculations, proofreading reports, compiling Bills of Material, etc.
• Checks (and takes responsibility for) the work of other designers and drafters.
• Assures project and company procedures are followed.
• May utilize information from vendor prints, catalogs, technical manuals, etc. to do design work.
• Mentors less experienced drafters and designers.
• Supervises and furnishes work for designers and other drafting personnel.
• Uses time efficiently.
• Sensitive to schedule requirements.
• Keeps supervisor informed of progress.
• Quality assurance for personal work assignments.
• Supports field assignments as required.
• Must be able to perform the functions of the lower classifications.
