About The Position

Project Engineer I is an entry-level position within the Transmission Department to perform electric utility-related engineering tasks and provide technical expertise to solve design problems under close supervision. Incumbents are expected to perform a variety of routine tasks, which provide experience and familiarity with engineering staff, methods, practices, and standards. The engineer will need to be flexible with work assignments and eager to learn new tasks as their capabilities develop.

Requirements

  • Works under close supervision and receives specific and detailed instructions for required tasks and results expected.
  • B.S. degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering required.
  • Zero (0) years of applicable experience required.
  • Current Engineering Intern or passage of FE Exam within first six months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design and evaluation of Client transmission and distribution infrastructure using AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, and/or other design tools to ensure that the needs of the Client are met in the most economical and effective manner.
  • Develop understanding and expertise of RUS and NESC requirements. Participate in preparation and administration of IOU, RUS, state, and municipal construction contracts.
  • Review engineering plans, specifications, and equipment for utility projects.
  • Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
  • Assist in the continued development of both Company and Client standards to provide guidelines for future project planning and design.
  • Perform basic functions of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must interface well with Clients, Vendors, Representatives, and Employees at all levels.
  • Travel is required for this position on an as-needed basis.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
