The Project Engineer I/II– Structural role is an experienced to advanced-level position responsible for leading structural engineering efforts for a variety of projects within the energy sector. In this role, you will design and analyze structural systems, including foundations and steel structures, while supporting the development of project estimates and overall engineering deliverables. Depending on experience, you will contribute to or take ownership of structural scope across projects. Operating under general to broad direction, you will perform structural analysis, develop practical and constructible design solutions, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure alignment across engineering disciplines and integration with overall design. As you progress within the role, you will take on increasing responsibility for project outcomes, supporting schedules, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards, and maintaining the quality and accuracy of deliverables. You may also provide guidance to less experienced engineers, contributing to team development while supporting safe, efficient, and successful project execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Civil Engineering (Structural Specialty preferred).
  • 3-10 years of industry experience required.
  • Strong work ethic, and able to travel to field project locations.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills as well as attention to key prioritized details.
  • Self-motivated and able to quickly react to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Self-manage workload, and direct workload of staff engineers, and experience managing resource teams.
  • Advanced technical writing and client/team communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Taken and passed Professional Engineering Exam (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Able to adjust and evolve complex control system designs and pre-developed tools/templates to fit unique project situations.
  • Coach/lead staff engineers through tool/template use and drawing reviews as well as peer model review
  • Assist driving group standards and practices, as well as training staff engineers, on topics relating to ACI, AISC, ASCE, IBC, and PIP codes.
  • Stamp IFC drawings following peer PE review.
  • Independently lead structural portion of projects, coaching and managing staff engineer efforts, and stamping results following peer PE review.
  • Act as primary project team and client contact for Civil and Structural discipline on smaller to mid-sized projects. This includes performing structural PM tasks of scope/schedule/cost tracking and management, and reviewing procurement efforts for building, rebar & steel contractor bids.
