About The Position

The Project Engineer at Gary Merlino Construction is responsible for supporting the management of heavy civil construction projects. This role involves budget management, scheduling, and ensuring effective communication among team members and stakeholders. The Project Engineer will assist in various project-related tasks, including invoice processing, material submittals, and change orders, while maintaining a focus on detail and adherence to project timelines.

Requirements

• Five to seven years of construction experience, preferably in civil engineering.
• Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of construction processes.
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
• Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple competing tasks with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist in establishing project budget, invoice processing, subcontractor pay estimates, cost reports, quantity reconciliation and owner billing.
• Assist in developing budget forecasts and monitor progress of work per cost account to assure adherence to budget.
• Assist scheduling project and updating project schedule using Primavera Contractor/P6 or equivalent.
• Develop and submit material submittals.
• Maintain submittal log.
• Process time and materials / extra work change orders.
