About The Position

Eversource is seeking a qualified candidate for a position that involves planning, developing, scheduling, and performing engineering assignments related to the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of gas distribution and pressure regulating systems, including major and complex projects. The role requires adherence to federal, state, and company pipeline construction standards and procedures. The candidate will support the development, review, and management of quality standards, procedures, and work practices for the Eversource Gas Business Unit (ESGBU). This includes resolving compliance issues, managing material and equipment for the distribution system, and participating in asset management programs. The position also involves occasional interaction with state regulators and assisting in gas distribution restoration efforts during emergencies. The work environment is primarily office-based but may require travel to various gas facilities and operating districts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology or related discipline.
  • Five (5) to eight (8) years of related engineering experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of distribution construction and maintenance work practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable governmental codes and regulations.
  • Knowledge of basic welding and fusing principles.
  • Working knowledge of environmental requirements affecting related activities.
  • Proficient in MS computer applications.
  • Some exposure to gaseous atmospheres, construction site hazards, and hazards on customer's property.

Nice To Haves

  • Gas experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Title 49, Part 192 of the Code of Federal Regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company pipeline construction standards and procedures.
  • Support the development, review, and management of quality standards and procedures for the ESGBU.
  • Resolve compliance issues related to policies and procedures.
  • Manage material and equipment for the distribution system and support failure analysis.
  • Review requests for new materials for the gas system and maintain the materials catalog.
  • Interface with the QA/QC organization to address quality issues.
  • Communicate changes in procedures, policies, and standards to the Gas Business Unit and external entities.
  • Participate in asset management programs for installed materials on the gas distribution system.
  • Assist in gas distribution restoration efforts during emergencies.
  • Be available for on-call Storm Duty assignments as necessary.
