About the position

Snap-on is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to develop innovative cordless power tool designs that meet the premium expectations of Snap-on customers.

Responsibilities

  • Research and Development for cordless power tool batteries and motor controllers.
  • Working in PT Engineering for Cordless Power Tools.
  • Provide electrical engineering expertise in digital and analog electronics.
  • Guide procurement for component and supplier selection.
  • Solving problems and being a self-starter.
  • Manage projects with a cross-disciplinary team.
  • Understand electrical schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Develop and oversee test procedures and validate test results.
  • Effectively communicate and remain organized.
  • Balance multiple projects of varying priority.

Requirements

  • BSEE.
  • Minimum of five (5) years product development experience - low voltage, DC, mixed signal, Li-ion battery operated, compact, highly reliable, and/or consumer/industrial grade electronics is a plus.
  • Demonstrated skills in the design of batteries, battery management systems, chargers, and power electronics for electric motors.
  • Proficient in schematic and PCB design using ECAD software, preferably experience with Altium Designer and Altium 365.
  • Skilled in designing, simulating, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting electrical circuits.
  • Understands complimentary technical disciplines such as embedded programming and mechanical engineering.
  • Experience working with Marketing/Product Management to determine project requirements and create product specifications.
  • Experience coordinating with multiple outside suppliers to develop parts or products.
  • Knowledgeable of government, regulatory compliance, and industry standards.
  • Proficient in soldering, including SMT soldering and rework.
  • Experience with creating and maintaining electrical assembly drawings and PCB fabrication documentation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Worked with CAD packages, i.e. AutoCAD, Creo, Altium, ANSYS.
  • Worked with electrical simulation software, i.e. LTSpice, Multisim, etc.
  • Worked with electric motors, i.e. PMDC, BLDC.
  • Worked with control logic for electric motors.
  • Experience in the power tools industry.
  • Experience with programming languages, i.e. C, C++, Python, etc.
