Moog is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to spearhead technical projects and innovate new electromechanical systems within our Space Mechanisms group. This role involves leading the development and deployment of new technical projects that enhance our existing product lines. As a Project Engineer, you will report directly to an Engineering Manager and will be required to work onsite daily in Chatsworth, California, following a 9/80 work schedule, which allows for every other Friday off. In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing technical projects from their inception through to design, installation, qualification, and eventual handover to production. You will serve as the primary point of contact across various teams, ensuring that operations remain focused and aligned with project goals. Your duties will include defining program plans that outline strategies, scope, schedules, resource requirements, and cost targets. You will collaborate with multiple engineering functions and teams to ensure that the program progresses according to the established plan. Your role will also involve directing tasks for your team, prioritizing project work based on schedules, risks, resources, and potential payback. You will be tasked with tracking the status of projects and action items against the schedule, identifying creative solutions to navigate obstacles, and communicating project status effectively. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of new product requirements by consulting with customers and sales personnel, validating conceptual problem solutions through trade studies and analyses, and creating reliable designs through comprehensive experimental development test programs. Documentation of designs, analyses, and test results will be crucial, as will directing the review, selection, budgeting, and scheduling of external vendors and integrators for project delivery.
