The Project Director of Student Support Services and Thrive Scholars Program is responsible for increasing access, retention, and success of vulnerable student populations, focusing on their engagement in academic initiatives and co-curricular activities that facilitate success. The Director will provide direct oversight and leadership to the TRIO Student Support Services and Thrive Scholars Program, ensuring that students are empowered and prepared to reach their full social, professional, and academic pursuits. Employees hired into Intermittent positions are limited to working no more than 720 hours per fiscal year. Salary Grade: 16. Please see Staff Compensation Structure or Skilled Crafts and Service Maintenance Compensation Schedule for salary ranges. For salary grade UC, these positions are 'Unclassified' and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.

  • Work collaboratively with the Office of Academic Excellence and Division of Student Affairs to develop and implement innovative approaches to enhance student learning, close achievement gaps and provide a student-centered learning environment
  • Serves as the point person for the THRIVE Scholars Program, ensuring students in this program receive academic support resources and financial resources for degree completion.
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and implementation of student success programs.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of early intervention and retention programs.
  • Coordinate programs and initiatives that promote students' sense of belonging, self-efficacy, and personal/professional development.
  • Track performance measures, update program database and prepare annual performance report to U.S. Department of Education, Executive Director and MSU administration.
  • Serve as the university contact with U.S. Department of Education and attend Director's meetings, seminars and conferences as required.
  • Encourage student engagement in departmental and university activities.
  • Serve as a constant and immediate source of support for students and making referrals when necessary to meet their needs.
  • Work alongside staff to design workshops and deliver toolkits and resources for student success.
  • Serves of divisional, university, and community committees as required.
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • Master's Degree in Education Administration, or a related field required
  • 5 -7 years of administrative experience managing a department/team
  • Three years of experience with budget management
  • TRIO eligible background preferred
