About The Position

Elevator Controllers, a well-established elevator controls manufacturer based in Sacramento, is seeking a Project Design Engineer to support the design and configuration of elevator control systems. This role focuses on translating customer-specific requirements into engineered manufacturing packages while ensuring compliance with applicable electrical codes, elevator industry standards, and internal engineering practices. The Project Design Engineer works closely with customers, engineering, and production teams to deliver high-quality, reliable elevator control solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field required, or demonstrated equivalent, relevant technical experience.
  • 2–4 years of experience in control engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with electrical control systems and engineering documentation.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and strong general computer literacy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of 3-phase VFD motor control interfaces.
  • Experience with relay logic, PLC, or DCS-based control systems.
  • Experience with elevator controller systems engineering or equivalent systems engineering and electrical print design experience in electrical or industrial automation environments.
  • Prior elevator industry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed engineered manufacturing packages defining elevator controller designs and configurations.
  • Modify pre-designed elevator control systems to meet customer-specific requirements, including: Electrical changes for varying line voltages
  • Brake circuit designs aligned with appropriate voltage requirements
  • Prepare and maintain schematic diagrams, electrical drawings, and supporting documentation for production.
  • Collaborate with customers and cross-functional internal teams to ensure project requirements, schedules, and quality standards are met.
  • Provide quality assurance support for design engineering deliverables.
  • Support continuous product improvement and design enhancement initiatives.
  • Adhere to established engineering standards, methods, and documentation practices.
  • Participate in hands-on training on the production floor to gain a thorough understanding of how elevator control panels are built, wired, tested, and customized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
