PURPOSE The Project Coordinator III for the Office of Student Research and Innovation (OSRI) within the Division of Research and Innovation plays a pivotal role in advancing Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s mission to foster student engagement in research and innovation. This position assists with the coordination of OSRI-led activities that promote the participation of students in mentored research, creative activities, and innovative projects that enhance their academic and professional development throughout their collegiate careers. The Project Coordinator III is responsible for working with students, faculty, research mentors and administrators in all schools, colleges, and research institutes to promote and develop opportunities for academic enrichment through research and creative activity; conducting open competitions for student research and creative endeavor awards; the administration of centralized funding for such activities; educating students and faculty about the engagement of students in research; and publicizing the accomplishments of student researchers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
  • Five (5) years of related experience in project coordination/administrative functions to include two (2) to three (3) years of experience coordinating the planning, development and implementation of student related initiatives or activities.
  • Experience working with faculty across disciplines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High level of articulation and professionalism.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Critical thinking and proactive problem solving.
  • Ability to take initiative and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to either work in a team environment or independently with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks, resources, and time effectively.
  • Ability to travel, as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in applicable field.
  • Familiarity with competitive grant and award programs.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a research office.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience in designing web pages and social media using relevant software.

Responsibilities

  • Assists and coordinates the completion of projects to identify student research opportunities.
  • Manages professional development events and workshops for students in consultation with leadership.
  • Creates, schedules, prepares materials for, and presents workshops on research and creative activities for students, including but not limited to “research hub” activities.
  • Perform training duties for graduate advisors, GAs/student workers, staff, and others concerning policies, rules, and procedures relevant to the graduate education enterprise.
  • Oversees graduate assistants that support spaces specific to OSRI, such as the “research hub” located in the Mary & Jeff Bell Library.
  • Assists in the execution of student research exhibitions and symposia (including but not limited to the annual Symposium for Student Innovation, Research, and Creative Activities, Invent for the Planet, 3MT, etc.). These activities include, but are not limited to, advertising exhibitions, securing space, event planning, processing proposals, creating programs, and managing events.
  • Maintains database integrity, security, and accuracy along with enhancing OSRI’s webpage to ensure accuracy, clarity, and educational value.
  • Assists and prepares marketing and communication materials for OSRI activities including funding programs to students, faculty, advisors, and other administrators.
  • Prepares and oversees forecasting and progress reporting against milestones, budgetary updates, and the change management process.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Manages and coordinates assessment efforts, data analysis, write and/or edits reports.
  • Works with University offices, including the Foundation in the disbursement of funds to support undergraduate and graduate student research and creative endeavors.
  • Confers with and assists supervisor in the performance of program administration activities.
  • Performs other duties as required.
