About The Position

The Project Coordinator at the California Youth Empowerment Network (CAYEN) plays a crucial role in empowering transitional age youth (TAY) by ensuring their voices are represented in behavioral health policy discussions. This position involves leading advocacy efforts, conducting outreach, and collaborating with various stakeholders to promote positive changes in behavioral health systems. The coordinator will work under the supervision of the CAYEN Program Manager and is expected to contribute to the development and operationalization of advocacy initiatives while managing project deliverables effectively.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience with community programs.
  • Two years of experience working with transitional age youth (TAY).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee diverse project deliverables.
  • Experience in community outreach and group facilitation.
  • Understanding of mental health policy issues and the impact of stigma.
  • Ability to lead and manage ethically and with integrity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with collaborative partnerships.
  • Community organizing experience and/or knowledge of public policy and legislative process.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and social media platforms utilized by TAY.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and operationalization of CAYEN's statewide TAY advocacy.
  • Ensure timely completion of project deliverables and adherence to budget.
  • Deliver advocacy trainings and presentations to stakeholders.
  • Research and identify advocacy opportunities for Statewide TAY Action Teams.
  • Represent CAYEN in the community through networking and collaboration.
  • Conduct extensive outreach to grow CAYEN's network.
  • Work with TAY to bring their voice to advocacy forums and events.
  • Develop advocacy tools and talking points for TAY.
  • Participate in statewide committees and workgroups as applicable.
  • Build relationships with community stakeholders and advocacy groups.
