About The Position

The Project Controls Specialist position at Sargent Electric Company is designed to provide essential project controls support to the utility division. Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of construction project controls or accounting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, engineering, construction management, or 3+ years of demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of general accounting principles is required.
  • Understanding of construction accounting preferred, including earned value and job cost projections.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task and prioritize activities.
  • Familiarity with project management software or tools.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate development and implementation of project work breakdown structure (WBS) and cost breakdown structure (CBS).
  • Review financial data related to invoice payments, purchase orders, expended labor hours, and installed units.
  • Understand scope control and change management processes.
  • Analyze earned value and cost forecasting for project direct and indirect costs.
  • Develop project annual spend projections, cost reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Interface with other functions and teams to improve processes and resolve conflicting priorities.
  • Monitor costs throughout each project stage and the entire project lifecycle.
  • Analyze project cost variances to predict forecasts and report findings to project management.
  • Understand cost and billing rates for labor, material, and equipment.
  • Recognize productivity impacts such as weather, shifts, location, and labor availability.
  • Adhere to financial, business, and project processes, and communicate company policies accordingly.
  • Identify skill training enhancement needs and communicate them to management.
  • Participate in and support company training, safety, and management development initiatives.
