About The Position

Under the direction of the Project Controls Supervisor, the Project Controls Specialist – Outage supports planning and scheduling activities for Direct Feed Low Activity Waste (DFLAW) outage windows for the Outage Manager. Outage planning and preparation for DFLAW ensures that the right scope is identified, ready to work, and that all necessary materials, staffing, and plant systems are aligned to accomplish planned outage windows. The outage planning process includes long term strategic planning based on the DFLAW commissioning schedule and integration with the work week schedule. The Project Controls Specialist supports the Outage Manager by developing and maintaining outage schedules, coordinates information related to planned activities, tracks progress during outage on work performed and provides schedule updates to Management. The Project Controls Specialist may also collect, analyze, and maintain schedule information from all disciplines and functional teams to support development and maintenance of the integrated project schedule. Identify schedule constraints and evaluate their impact on the overall project timeline. Coordinate with internal departments to ensure shared understanding of project schedule requirements and dependencies. Support the integration of all schedule activities and monitor inter-discipline and functional interfaces to identify potential conflicts or risks. This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC This job description is not intended to include every duty, task or instruction for which an employee is responsible. Other tasks may be assigned, based on business needs and the department supervisors request.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management or related discipline from an accredited university and 6 years of project controls experience on an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) job or equivalent job, an associate’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management or related discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of project controls experience on an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) job or equivalent job or in lieu of a degree, high school diploma or equivalent and 10 years of project controls experience on an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) job or equivalent job.
  • Must have intermediate Microsoft Office skills in applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in Primavera P/6 or similar scheduling software such as Oracle Primavera Cloud, Powerproject, Deltek Acumen, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or OpenProject
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Amentum visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
  • (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge.)

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience and execution of Project Controls work on federal government projects.
  • Previous Earned Value Management System experience.
  • Proficiency in PowerBI and Visio.
  • Prior experience with process engineering projects is desirable.
  • Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people of varied backgrounds and objectives.
  • Previous Waste Treatment Project (WTP) experience.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains required schedule information by all disciplines/functions.
  • Identifies restraints and effect on total project schedule.
  • Coordinates with all departments to ensure understanding of total project schedule needs.
  • Responsible for total integration of schedule activities.
  • Identifies schedule considerations and problems resulting from inter-discipline or functional restraints and interfaces.
  • Monitors and reports critical path and schedule performance of the total project.
  • Conducts project schedule analysis and studies of problem areas to determine criticality of schedule activities.
  • Recommends alternatives for schedule improvement to project team for discussion and/or decision.
  • Responsible for leading, when requested, the development and review of schedule recovery plans, including evaluation of additional resources/costs required to affect such plans.
  • Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment
