About The Position

GAI Consultants is seeking a Project Construction Technician 1 to perform construction inspection on a variety of Power Generation projects in Virginia. The candidate will be responsible for interpreting specifications and construction drawings, evaluating site conditions based on soil and rock samples, monitoring and reporting on construction activities, and performing field testing of soils and concrete. The successful candidate will be expected to provide documentation of construction progress through daily reports, status reports, and other forms of data reporting.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of construction experience with earthwork, foundation inspection, test boring inspection and concrete testing
• Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Engineering or a related field
• Driver's License

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Nuclear Density Gauge Testing
• ACI Grade 1 Certification
• OSHA 10-hour Training

Responsibilities

• Interpreting specifications and construction drawings
• Evaluating site conditions based on soil and rock samples
• Monitoring and reporting on construction activities
• Performing field testing of soils and concrete
• Generating and substantiating reports and documentation regarding construction, materials, integration, equipment, and operations
• Assisting Task Managers and Project Manager on technical aspects of the project
• Managing tasks and providing continued mentored experience to senior staff
• Applying principles of formal strategic and persuasive communications
• Representing their area of specialty within the practice and liaising with related individuals and practices
