Sika is seeking an experienced Project Chemist to join its growing team in Madison Heights, MI. This role involves performing product maintenance, conducting in-depth chemical reviews, presenting results to customers, and being responsible for TS Audits. The Project Chemist will also lead technical support for manufacturing, transfer new products/technologies to production, adapt existing DFMEA, evaluate new technologies and raw materials, and manage product maintenance processes independently.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of R&D experience in product formulation, ideally involving polymer compositions for automotive or industrial applications
  • Proven track record of successfully leading development projects from ideation through market introduction
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional project teams (e.g., EHS, Operations, Sales/Marketing) to oversee progress and ensure successful outcomes
  • Highly motivated, self-driven individual who takes responsibility and ownership for assigned tasks and projects
  • Curiosity and courage to challenge the status status quo and push technical boundaries in support of Sika’s innovation culture
  • Excellent communication skills and an open mindset that fosters a respectful, collaborative, and enjoyable work environment

Responsibilities

  • Perform product maintenance
  • Conduct in-depth chemical reviews

  • TS Audit responsible
  • Lead technical support to manufacturing plant to assure product quality and performance
  • Responsible for transferring new products/technologies to production
  • Adapt existing DFMEA and set up for new modified products
  • Evaluate new technologies, raw materials, and processes
  • Manage product maintenance process independently
  • Initiate technical presentation from raw material suppliers
  • Leads TS 16949 Audit for the R&D team
  • Perform special projects and other assignments as directed by manager
