Sika is seeking an experienced Project Chemist to join its growing team in Madison Heights, MI. This role involves performing product maintenance, conducting in-depth chemical reviews, presenting results to customers, and being responsible for TS Audits. The Project Chemist will also lead technical support for manufacturing, transfer new products/technologies to production, adapt existing DFMEA, evaluate new technologies and raw materials, and manage product maintenance processes independently.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of R&D experience in product formulation, ideally involving polymer compositions for automotive or industrial applications
Proven track record of successfully leading development projects from ideation through market introduction
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional project teams (e.g., EHS, Operations, Sales/Marketing) to oversee progress and ensure successful outcomes
Highly motivated, self-driven individual who takes responsibility and ownership for assigned tasks and projects
Curiosity and courage to challenge the status status quo and push technical boundaries in support of Sika’s innovation culture
Excellent communication skills and an open mindset that fosters a respectful, collaborative, and enjoyable work environment

Perform product maintenance
Conduct in-depth chemical reviews
Present results to our customers
TS Audit responsible
Lead technical support to manufacturing plant to assure product quality and performance
Responsible for transferring new products/technologies to production
Adapt existing DFMEA and set up for new modified products
Evaluate new technologies, raw materials, and processes
Manage product maintenance process independently
Initiate technical presentation from raw material suppliers
Leads TS 16949 Audit for the R&D team
Perform special projects and other assignments as directed by manager
