About The Position

The Employment Coordinator for Project Blue will play a crucial role in implementing the workforce development program aimed at assisting clients with criminal histories in overcoming employment barriers. This position involves providing workforce readiness services, job training, and job search assistance to help clients secure stable employment. The coordinator will work closely with clients and the Project Blue team to empower individuals to thrive in the workforce.

Requirements

  • At least two years' experience working in a program serving high-risk individuals or job development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle for job performance.
  • Ability to pass criminal background and drug screens.

  • Interest in social justice, legal advocacy, prisoner reentry, and workforce development.
  • Experience with case management, workforce development, education, or life skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-reach to recruit eligible clients for employment services.
  • Provide direct services to clients through regular case management meetings.
  • Assess clients' employment needs and develop plans to increase their employability.
  • Help clients navigate challenges related to having a criminal background.
  • Research and refer clients to local employers and workforce development programs.
  • Follow up with clients to ensure improvement in their situations.
  • Refer clients to Legal Aid of Buffalo as necessary.
  • Monitor and track milestones in client participation and progress.
  • Ensure data quality and accuracy of client files and records.
  • Communicate with family members and businesses to resolve potential difficulties.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and weekly one-on-ones with supervisor.
  • Provide support to other direct service staff and programs as needed.
  • Ensure safety and security of clients, staff, and volunteers.
  • Establish relationships with employers and community partners for job exploration opportunities.
  • Engage and energize staff members, volunteers, and stakeholders.
