About The Position

Our Durham office is looking for a strong Project Architect to join the Public Safety Studio. Our next team member will have excellent communication, design, graphic and visualization skills. This individual will work closely with our national team to manage, organize and coordinate with our Civic and Public Safety projects in North Carolina. SCHRADERGROUP, a Hord Coplan Macht Studio, is a nationally recognized leader in the planning and design of public safety facilities. Our work supports local communities and reflects a deep understanding of the operational, technical, and human needs of EOC and E911 facilities, law enforcement, fire stations, EMS stations, emergency management facilities, and municipal complexes. Each project we undertake is tailored to support the mission of its users’ prioritizing security, efficiency, functionality, and community connection. Requirements

10-15 years of experience in the Architectural field
License required
Demonstrated leadership and experience with successful project teams
Excellent design, graphic and presentation skills
Experience leading client meetings and sub-consultant coordination
Strong Revit skills
Experience in preparing construction documents and leading construction administration
Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations

Nice To Haves

Experience in Public Safety Projects including Law Enforcement, Fire/EMS, Emergency Operations Center, Emergency Communication Centers (E911) preferred.
LEED and/or WELL Building credentials are a plus

Responsibilities

Maintains contact with clients, consultants, and contractors, leading communications during all project phases, and participating in client and owner presentations.
Develops a thorough understanding of projects’ design philosophy and provides input in developing a design and building performance strategy and effectively conveys this to assigned team members when appropriate.
Contributes to project’s technical design effort, subsequent detailed design development, project coordination and quality control efforts during all phases of project work, in close collaboration with project managers and senior leadership.
Seeks creative and innovative solutions to assigned tasks and develop appropriate research and documents to support these solutions
Actively collaborates with and coordinates work of consultants and knowledge resources to ensure the project deliverables are coordinated, integrated, and support the design concept and performance goals of the project
Leads the preparation of design documents and detailed development of construction documents during all project phases
Delivers complete, accurate and coordinated project documentation
Advances the production of schematic, design development and construction documents in compliance with project scope, schedule, cost and design intent.
Maintains awareness of evolving building technology and systems
Reviews shop drawings, material samples and CD’s for conformance with design
Performs construction administration duties (e.g. RFI’s, CCD’s, change orders, etc.)
Maintains contact with clients, consultants, and contractors during all project phases, participating in marketing, client and owner presentations as required.
