About The Position

Your Role As a Gensler Project Architect you will collaborate with our Practice Area Leaders and Design Directors to develop design solutions as well as coordinate the design through the construction documentation phase of a project. You will be successful because you already know how to translate an architect's sketches and documents into realized 2D/3D models and images and can research artistic and/or technical issues when they arise. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited school
  • Licensure required
  • 10+ years of experience in the profession of architectural design
  • Experience managing multiple aspects of client, team, and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape, and civil consultants
  • Experience working directly with contractors
  • Experience resolving complex technical and design issues
  • Experience performing zoning and code analysis in multiple jurisdictions
  • Understanding of how buildings are constructed, along with the ability to create technical documents that succinctly, thoroughly, and accurately describe the work to be done
  • Understanding of sustainable and universal design concepts
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication and relationship management skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within Critical Facilities projects (i.e. data centers, command and control centers, high-performance computing, etc.) healthcare projects, or similarly complex projects (i.e. science/labs/national labs, light-industrial/manufacturing, high-tech manufacturing, healthcare, aviation & transportation, etc.) preferred
  • Proficiency with SketchUp, 3D Max, Bluebeam, and Adobe Creative Suite is preferred, but not required
  • Strong Revit, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Microsoft Office experience desired. AutoCAD, Sketchup, Rhino, Enscape, VRay also beneficial
  • Previous experience in sustainable design projects preferable. Especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel and /or Net Zero Building certification

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on design projects in the life sciences, and healthcare practice areas, including programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development and documentation
  • Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives
  • Documentation coordination with consultants (structural, MEP, lighting, AV, acoustical, accessibility, building envelope, life safety, etc.)
  • Assist in resolving complex technical and design issues
  • Assist in managing client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination
  • Provide project team coordination for the finished plans, specifications, and material selections required for construction
  • Participate in the construction administration of projects and review of submittals and finish samples
  • Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs
