About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a mid to senior-level Archaeologist/Cultural Resources Specialist within our cultural resources practice in the Pacific Northwest US. As part of this role, you will work with the wider National Cultural Resources team in developing strategies to increase cultural resources services in Oregon and Washington. You will serve as a Principal Investigator (PI) and provide senior oversight for junior staff as well as assist with the management of client-specific programs and projects. You will also provide quality assurance planning and review for execution of cultural resources work in the Pacific Northwest US. Arcadis is specifically looking for an archaeologist/cultural resource specialist with environmental planning and permitting experience for linear infrastructure in Oregon and Washington. The position requires someone with knowledge and experience working in these states at a federal and state level.

Requirements

  • Meets the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards in archaeology.
  • Master's degree in archaeology or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in cultural resources management, with a combination of field- and office-based experience.
  • Must be a qualified PI in Oregon and Washington.
  • Previous experience in cultural resources planning for electric and/or gas transmission facilities or similar linear infrastructures.
  • Experience working with federal land management agencies and state agencies.
  • Strong knowledge of cultural resources management and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
  • Strong knowledge of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission procedures and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Apply technical knowledge to develop creative, effective, and economical solutions to project issues.
  • Interact with project and program managers as a key cultural resource team member.
  • Provide supervision, training, technical direction, and mentoring to junior-level staff.
  • Serve as a Principal Investigator (PI) in Oregon and Washington.
  • Work on multiple projects including all levels of investigation (Classes I-III, archaeological monitoring).
  • Conduct fieldwork and manage archaeological field staff and crews.
  • Conduct or lead field assessments related to archaeological projects.
  • Provide guidance and senior technical review on project documents prepared by junior staff.
  • Prepare technical analysis and documents.
